Welcome to Glen Innes
At Roseneath we would like to say welcome to Espen Sigvartsen from Norse Sole Podiatry at 177 Grey St Glen Innes.
Espen will be one of the podiatrists that will be looking after our residents at Roseneath Aged Care Centre.
Kenya
In the month of May we have celebrated the culture of Kenya, due to circumstances out of our control we had to postpone some of the days planned.
Those days will be rescheduled to happen later this year.
Residents were still able to learn important culture significance to the people of Kenya.
Poem of the Month
“We often forget that we are nature. Nature is not something separate from us. So,
when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we have lost our connection to ourselves.”
–Andy Goldsworthy–
Recipe of the Month
Kenyan Green Banana Chips with Salt and Chili
Submitted by Tamu Tamu
Ingredients:
12 large green bananas peeled
750 millilitres vegetable cooking oil
tablespoon finely ground salt
teaspoon hot red chilli powder
Oil your hands well with lard before peeling the bananas to avoid them sticking to your hands. Peel the bananas and slice them into thin slices, lengthwise.
Heat the oil for 5 mins on a high heat, drop in a banana slice to test adequate temperature, (the banana slice should rise to the top rapidly). When ready fry all the bananas until light brown and place them on a paper towel to drain the oil.
Once the oil is drained, remove and dust them with chilli powder and salt. Shake to mix it well and hey presto, you’re done!
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea
Roseneath Cooking Group and staff held a Big Morning Tea on 23/05/2024 to raise money for cancer council.
There was a beautiful spread of muffins, lamingtons, slices, biscuits, spring rolls and sausage rolls.
Freshly made coffee, tea and hot chocolate. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that helped and donated.
